President John Magufuli has sent his congratulatory remarks to Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa for winning the general election.

Mr Mnangangwa of the ruling party ZANU-PF was declared winner on Friday August 3 by the Zimbabwe electoral commission.

He got 50.8 per cent of the votes cast, against his closest challenger from, of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance, Nelson Chamisa who got 44.3 per cent.

 Dr Magufuli said on his Twitter account that ,Mnangagwa’s victory is a reflection of the confidence of the people of Zimbabwe in him.

“Cde. Mnangagwa. On behalf of the Government and people of Tanzania, I convey my sincere congratulations on your victory in the Presidential Election of Zimbabwe. Your victory is a reflection of the confidence reposed in you by the people of Zimbabwe in leading them to prosperity,” read President Magufuli’s tweet on Friday.
